The Full Story?
![The Two-Brothers Creation Myth and "Getting the Full Story The story Qrow told RNJR, with the god of creation and the god of destruction initially fighting, then reconciling and making humanity together, is all fine and good...but at the same time, it doesn't really fit with the other myths we've been told thus far Why do the creatures of Grimm attack people when their emotions are negative-when people would supposedly be at their most destructive? How did two warring brothers just...make up and forgive each other, especially after the desperate, angry formation of the creatures of Grimm? And why was humanity considered their "masterpiece" then, but the leader of the forces of destruction now sees them as a plague to be eliminated? But I think we might be on the receiving end of an inaccurate story. Specifically, I think that over time, the story of Remnants' Brothers Grimm was made nicer and friendlier for those who wanted a happy ending and to feel good about their gods and humanity's place in the world. That would be an interesting parallel to the records of how our own world's fairy tales and myths have changed over time. And I think we'll get the darker version of the story from Salem, complete with a ustification for why she's trying to destroy the "masterpiece of the gods." Because humanity probably never was that, not even a little bit. So, we know that the god of creation was active during the day and that the god of destruction was active during the night. We also know that on Remnant, the moon is up every night in addition to the sun being up during the day. Therefore, I think its likely that the gods were also originally tied to the sun and moon. And the moon has been damaged, as we well know What if the god of creation got tired of his little brother destroying everything he had made, and instead of coming to a compromise, tried to kill him? So let's rewrite the myth a little bit: Life always returned after the destruction wrought by the younger god. But as time went on, the god of creation tired of this cycle. He was proud of the beauty he created, and by degrees he became bitter and angry that the god of destruction sought to ruin it. After all, wouldn't he be able to make even better and more beautiful things if given more time? He just needed one night of silence. Just one night without his brother As twilight fell, the elder god mustered the setting sun's energy and shattered the rising moon. The younger god began to bleed, cursing his brother's name in shock and outrage. In his anger he formed the creatures of Grimm from the blood and power spilling out of his wound, and struck back. He splintered off bits of the sun, which fell to Remnant as Dust, and his blood and his brother's mingled on the ground. The two gods fought for control over the new forms arising from the bloodshed, but in the end neither could fully claim dominion, and creatures arose that were capable of both creation and destruction: people. Then the younger god fled, his injuries too great to continue fighting. But to this day, his creatures of Grimm seek to destroy created things, especially when their creators turn violent. As the thrill of battle faded, the god of creation was horrified by what he had done. He saw the people, born of violence and strife, and realized that if even he, the god of creation, could become so involved in himself as to destroy another out of pride, then humanity was truly doomed without guidance. In the darkness of the silent night, the most he could do was provide them with the byproducts of his guilt: the knowledge that everyone is capable of destruction as well as creation, and the ability to choose rightly where he had not. His thoughts, along with the scattered remains of his brother's power, fell to Remnant as relics, and were taken in by the people as cornerstones of their new civilization. And so, humanity is a fundamentally flawed creation, with the god of destruction being the injured party as the god of creation attempted to upset the balance of light and dark. Thus, it only makes sense that the forces of destruction would seek to retaliate, to restore the balance that was lost when the moon was shattered. At least, that's what they would tell you. Furthermore, I suspect that Ozpin and Salem are somehow the inheritors of the powers of these two gods, and continue fighting for their sides throughout various incarnations. Perhaps each already has their respective relic, and the embodiments of knowledge and choice are the ones being fought over In any case, I'm sure each has a pile of lore to use in justifying their actions...we just haven't heard much of Salem's vet. 24-4 HOURS AGO ON 14 JAN 2017 #ruby4 #ruby4 spoilers #ruby #speculation #ruby fic #kind of #long post](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/001/211/249/10e.png)
