Monty's detachable eyes
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog In Super Mario Galaxy, the Rocky Wrench-like Monty enemies emerge from manholes to attack Mario. When they are hiding underground out of view, their models are distorted, with their eyes floating next to their heads. The way the Monty enemies appear normally during gameplay. When the Monties are inactive and hiding underground below (Official sources call them "Monty" despite them being analogous to Rocky Wrench enemies from other Mario games.) the manhole, their model is distorted, with their head twisted back, their snout turned sideways, and their eyes floating some distance away from their heads. Slipperiness is controlled by distance
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog In Super Mario Galaxy 2, the further away a slope is from the camera, the less slippery it becomes. This may result in Mario slipping while running up a slope that is close to the camera, but suddenly being able to run up all the way if the camera is zoomed out. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, slopes become more slippery the closer the camera is to them. For these screenshots, the screen has been cropped on the sides to reduce visual clutter, but still has its full height. Please use the distance from the slopes to the bottom edge of the screen to gauge the distance to the camera. Here, the slope is so close to the camera that its bottom is cut off by the bottom edge of the screen. Mario is only able to run halfway up the slope before he begins sliding down. Now, the slope is slightly further away so that it fits fully within the screen. Mario is able to make it slightly further up before sliding. Finally, by walking up the edge of the slope so that the camera zooms out as far as possible, Mario is actually able to run all the way up the slope to the next ledge without slipping. Even further away from the camera, Mario is able to almost make it to the top of the slope before sliding down. This works with all slopes in the game, but is demonstrated here due to the camera in this area moving strictly perpendicularly to the slope. In addition, in this area, Mario's distance from the camera is fixed, so we can see that it is not Mario's distance from the camera, but the slope object's, that determines the slipperiness.
