Considering the iconic voice Tom Kenny gave SpongeBob SquarePants (and the fact that that voice has ensured he's essentially set for life financially), it's easy to forget that he's quite the accomplished voice actor and was so even before he voiced the precocious fry cook.

Twitter is having a moment appreciating Kenny's talents today thanks to an old unearthed clip from a Kenny character in the animated Dilbert series based on the comic strip. In the clip, which has since gone viral, Kenny voices a runty representative from Rhode Island, and it's clear from the first word out of his mouth that this is the SpongeBob voice.

The clip comes from season 1, episode 12 of Dilbert, titled "Holiday," and coincidentally came out the same month as the first episode of SpongeBob.

Once Twitter heard Kenny's "SpongeBob" voice used to voice a tiny, regretful politician, there was really only one thing to do: transpose the audio into SpongeBob clips.

As Twitter users took to editing SpongeBob clips, others recalled other characters voiced by Tom Kenny that sound just about one shade off from SpongeBob.

It's not uncommon to hear voice actors dip into the same well while voicing multiple characters, and Kenny is no different. Still, the rediscovery of Kenny's vast body of work gave SpongeBob fans a wonderful excuse to appreciate one of the most iconic voices of our generation.
