Judge Brenda Penny has denied Britney Spears' request for removal from the conservatorship of her father, Jaime Spears. The decision makes official the role of Bessemer Trust as co-conservator of Spears' estate, denying a request from Spears' attorneys to remove Spears from his role as conservator.

The decision comes a week after Britney's live-streamed testimony in the case shocked social media. During the testimony, she alleged abuse at the hands of her father and also alleged that she has been forced to keep using an IUD, preventing her from fulfilling her desire to have more children.

The decision made yesterday is not a result of that testimony, but rather a ruling on a November request to make Bessemer Trust co-conservator of her $60 million estate. Judge Penny said the ruling was made "without prejudice," meaning Spears' lawyer, Sam Ingahm, can request to end her conservatorship again. CNN reported that Ingahm is planning on filing a petition to end Spears' conservatorship.

The decision dismayed fans and supporters of the #FreeBritney movement, who have grown in number and visibility particularly since Spears' testimony last week.

Meanwhile, Jaime Spears has filed court documents to investigate Spears' allegations of abuse, claiming that the damning allegations such as the forced IUD are not his decision, but rather that of Spears' manager and personal conservator Jodi Montgomery, who has been overseeing Spears' personal decisions since 2019.
