Netflix Unleashes New Terror Of Reality Dating Television: 'Sexy Beasts'
After Love Is Blind and The Circle, there's no doubting that Netflix is the king of turning social experiments into compelling reality television, but even the ridiculous premises of those shows pale in comparison to their recently announced new dating show, Sexy Beasts.
No, you're not hallucinating. SEXY BEASTS is a new dating show that uses cutting edge prosthetics to put true blind-date chemistry to the test. On Netflix, 21 July. pic.twitter.com/Puvz3wcD7p

Sexy Beasts, an aggressively surreal dating competition, will utilize "cutting-edge prosthetic technology" to make its participants look like inhuman monsters. Each episode will feature a contestant in an extraordinary amount of prosthetics going on three dates, each of whom will also be decked out in cosmetics. At the end of the episode, the contestant will choose which of the dates they want to see again — without all the makeup.
The premise and trailer for Sexy Beasts frankly floored Twitter users who couldn't quite wrap their heads around the uncanny valley on display.
I truly would love to know the Netflix algorithm that led to Sexy Beasts getting greenlit. Like is there a huge subset of people who alternate binge watching "Love is Blind" and 80s body horror movies? pic.twitter.com/DjLQquW4RN

"I hope the show puts a smile on peoples’ faces as they play along to discover who’ll fall in love with who, and what our cast all really look like," creator Simon Welton said. Whether the show will give people smiles instead of the creeps remains to be seen, but it will almost certainly be a Thing.
