Eight years after It's Gonna Be May meme started, NSYNC has finally acknowledged it, and in a big way. The American boy band that disbanded in 2002 has altered the title of their hit "It's Gonna Be Me" on Spotify and Apple Music, adding the alternative meme title to the name.
The number one NSYNC meme started when in 2012 Tumblr user amyricha thought that the line "It's gonna be me" in the titular song sounded a lot like "It's gonna be may" and posted an image macro of Justin Timberlake.
From there, the meme quickly spread on the internet, becoming a must-post image for many on May 1st each year.
This time, however, it was NSYNC themselves (or rather their record label) who did the memeing: the band has altered the name of the song on Apple Music and Spotify, changing "It's Gonna Be Me" to "It's Gonna Be Me β It's Gonna Be May."
The move did not go unnoticed on social media.
The record label added βitβs gonna be mayβ as an alternate title for the song on spotify.

Whether the band will keep the alternative title or bring it back next year is unknown, as is if Justing Timberlake is finally going to do the ramen hair for real.
