While some ingredients may have the same volume (i.e. the 2 teaspoons of yeast and 2 teaspoons of salt), they can have different weights (i.e. a cup of feathers does not weigh the same as a cup of gold). We consistently measure a cup of flour to be 130g, so about 430g (give or take, since some bakers may need to add an additional Tablespoon or so if the dough is especially w is correct for the 3 and 1/4 cups needed for recipe. 700g of flour is entirely too much and would lead to a very dry, crumbly bread. So disappointed!

Allrecipes Member 04/28/2024 This recipe did not work! I added about a tablespoon of corn starch and whisked while heating on medium low heat to combine, and once it did I put it into the fridge to harden. It didn't harden! Then I looked up this recipe, put the syrup back on the stovetop and actually followed the recipe. Once I started the vigorous mixing, it turned tough and sandy. What a disaster! To fix it, I added a splash of Kemp's Blue milk (milk w. blue food coloring, vanilla flavor, and carrageenan/guar gum to thicken), 2 tbsp butter, and 1 tbsp cocoa powder, and followed the recipe's heating and cooling directions again. It was like a chalky fudge, and it tasted like burnt chocolate. Very disappointed! I will not be using this recipe again Helpful (0)

It may have something to do with me swopping Elderflower cordial for Gin as I didn't have any of the former and both are vaguely flow- ery... Will stick to the mulled pear cider.

Haven't made it, but here's how to fix it

Kenneth 2 days ago I haven't used this recipe yet: 1. Love the fact that weights are listed in grams for butter, flour, sugar, brown sugar, and molasses. Very useful for me. I don't really see the point in using light brown sugar when molasses is being used. Dark brown sugar would be fine. If you want less molasses flavor, reduce the molasses and add a tiny bit of water. If you like the the commercial ginger snaps that have a little spicy heat, add a couple dashes of cayenne pepper. I like my ginger snaps to have a little bit of zing.

I used a Tupperware bowl (probably 45 years old) and when it got 2 minutes in the microwave with peanuts and butter, the bowl's bottom melted. Of course, in my panic, I tried to move it from the microwave to the sink and slung caramel syrup all over my cabinet doors and the floor. I guess you must use stove top, glass, not plastic.
