How baby squid is hatched.
Notes
Some baby squid hatched here recently so I had to share. They mature in about 4-6 months and no one knows exactly how long they live but are estimated to live from 8 months to somewhere less than a year. Market squid don't get any larger than 12", closer to 28cm though.
Description
These California market squid (Doryteuthis opalescens) are hatching from eggs we found washed up on the beach in Humboldt County, California on October 24, 2015. The one hatchling seems to be having trouble, and it looks like the other two are attacking it – but maybe not…?.
