Marijuana / Weed / Stoner - The Sinister Reason Weed is Illegal

I don't think weed is the devil come to reap the sinners but I do want to point out some things:
Just because we did it in the past doesn't mean its good, America performed 40k lobotomies in the past as a cure for anything from delinquent children to chronic headaches, we had lead long after we knew it could cause problems, and we sterilized over 100k Native Americans. Just because we did it in the past doesn't mean it was a good thing.

Some of the tests done on Marijuana are done by injecting it into the blood stream, I'm pretty sure that isn't how anybody smokes pot, research needs to be done into the ways people actually smoke it rather than exclusively on the substance itself. Basically I'm not happy with the studies being done and I think there need to be more real world studies.

A more accurate example of why it was banned is because hemp was threatening the paper industry so the paper industry generated those stories about people getting high off of hemp in order to scare people into banning hemp.

I do agree that you shouldn't be jailed for having weed though, its actually becoming a problem in the US's rapidly decaying and profit seeking prison system. However due to how much money is made off of that system they have a lot of lobbying power and I have no idea how hard it would be to relax those minimum sentence laws. It's also not a popular subject so nobody is going to write to their congressmen about prisoner's rights.
