Narayan Keer is a humble lower middle-class man, whose life revolves around his family. He and his wife work hard so that their children can have a better life than they did. However, their dreams come crashing down when an influential builder decides to construct a sports complex upon their colony, and asks the residents to vacate the land.

The novel is the first part of trilogy, set in the central region of India in the 90s. A realistic fiction which brings to light the pitiable state of human rights, a biased legal system and superstitions still prevalent in the Indian society.
