I haven’t had a chance to play through Samus Returns yet myself, but I disagree with Dunkey’s assesment on the rest of the Metroid series. While I see where he’s coming from in regards to the games being cryptic, he kind of cherry picked bad moments to prove his point. That bomb part in Fusion is really bad because it's an outlier within the game itself, as simply shooting the walls and bombing the ground is often enough to uncover hidden tiles, and usually you don’t need to bomb a pixel-perfect spot to do so. He was also complaining about the water gameplay in Super Metroid, but here’s the thing: Super Metroid never requires you to ever enter the water before you pick up the gravity suit. You’re supposed to pick up the grapple beam to swing over that section he was stuck in, and then you end up in the area where you can pick of the suit that allows normal water control, so if Dunkey didn’t have the grapple beam in that part, he must have backtracked to completely the wrong area of the map. As for the difficulty, well, that’s something I like about Metroid games usually. Again, I can’t speak for the boss designs in Samus Returns specifically, but in most Metroid titles, the bosses are supposed to kick your ass a few times until you get it in gear, and that’s refreshing for a Nintendo franchise in my opinion.
