On April 1st an interesting natural experiment in group psychology occurred on the Internet's infamous underwater basket-weaving enthusiast website when anonymous posters were suddenly given team identities and developed, in real time, group norms and rivalries, as a process of the minimal group paradigm. I discuss briefly this event and the psychology behind it.
