Overview

The NMRiH (No More Room in Hell) Child Controversy event occurred on the Steam Discussion forums. NMRiH's project lead, Maxx, posted a response to reaction to the child zombies in the game. Maxx, states that child zombies are one of NMRiH's core component of its game design, and philosophy. The forum post was later posted on reddit. The poster approved the way the dev team handled to situation.

A Kotaku article, published on the same day as the Steam Discussion forum, and reddit post, has also covered the controversy.[3] NMRiH's community moderator, Bubka3, updated the original post, on, December 19th, 2014, stating that zombified animals will not be put into the game.

They are a core component of our game design, our design philosophy, and our long-term vision for NMRiH. Part of our goal was to create a zombie game not based on killing and action, but on tension and fear and moral and ethical choice. We are attempting to simulate a real-world collapse of society as a result of a lethal epidemic. If you cannot handle it, do not play the game. We are sorry that some people seem to be offended for one reason or another but we are NOT going to Reading some posts by players off-put by the zombie children, being unable to shoot them on first encounter.. that is something that we set out to achieve. That reaction is actually intentional, that is what we wanted. This is a game about survival. Our game is free, and we developed it solely out of passion and fun to make the zombie game we always wanted. If you do not like it, we are sorry and it's unfortunate but this is a We appreciate any and all feedback on the game, as always.

zombies don't discriminate between who they kill or infect

I've noticed that a lot of major "controversies" lately go as such:

Random Person: I'm offended by a thing!
Everyone else: WHO CARES?

That's not a controversy, that's a complaint.

GamerGate is an ethical quagmire of opposing viewpoints and lots of garbled information. That is what you define as a controversy. This is a random person getting upset over a thing that no one else is upset about.
