Jenna Rose Swerdlow's "My Jeans" is a pop song and music video released in October 2010. The video did not receive much attention until after the release of Rebecca Black's Friday, where they were compared due to the featured young singers and their so-bad-it's-good lyrical content.

Origin

Jenna Rose's video for "My Jeans" was first uploaded by YouTuber SRVMOE on October 1st, 2010. Depicting a group of teenage girls going to the mall to look at a pair of jeans and lyrics littered with tween pop culture references, the video was removed some time in 2011 after it nearly 1.2 million views in March 2011. The video was reuploaded on March 27th, 2012, earning nearly 939,000 views as of November 2012. There are more than 15.6 thousand dislikes on the reuploaded video.

On March 14th, 2012, viral content site Buzzfeed^[2] shared the video, noting that it had flown under their radar. Also that March, the video was featured on celebrity blogger Perez Hilton's site^[3], TIME^[4], local Long Island newspaper Newsday^[5], the Hollywood Gossip^[6] and Pop Goes the Week!.^[7] A Facebook fan page^[1] for the song was established in March 2011 as well but accrued less than 500 likes as of November 2012. Following the success of the video, an official Twitter account was made for Swerdlow^[9], but was abandoned and replaced with a new account^[10] by the end of March 2011. As of November 2012, Swerdlow maintains a homepage^[11] and YouTube^[12] account featuring more serious music.

Remixes and Reaction Videos

As of November 2012, there are more than 1800 search results for "My Jeans parody" on YouTube.^[8] One of the most notable of these is a dub by well-known YouTuber BrocksDubs (shown below, top left). This parody, uploaded in April 2011, has more than 6 million views as of November 2012. Many of these also emphasis the absurd lyrics, including the phrase "jack my swag."
