On August 31st, 2009, a picture of a naked man with an axe was posted to 4chan’s /b/, saying “you know what to do” implying that the image was highly exploitable. This prompted others to edit the photo in various ways.

One of the users also posted that it appeared in a national geographic article saying it was a 69 year old Swedish man possibly going “ice swimming”. Many users on this thread declared it a meme.
