Super srs post for a sec So at school our many classes have a charity thing every Holiday season where we donate to a low-income family in the area I usually save up sole cash and donate a few bucks for this occasion but this year I cannot. And that is because this year I choose to donate to aid in the Philippines because of the typhoon. Some classmates of mine were pushing me to donate to the family, and believe me, I wanted to, but unlike many people in this admittedly privileged town, my family hasn't exactly been lucky with money. We've had our house foreclosed and we've had to rely on some rather mistreating relatives but my life story isn't important. What's important is that I only have enough pocket cash to donate to one, and I chose the Philippines. (I have around $10 btw, enough to feed one family) What my classmates told me was unbelievable. They told me that I was an idiot for donating to a country where 600,000 people died because - "I was disrupting natural selection" - "People in the Philippines never contribute anything to the world" - "I live in this town and should have enough money to donate to someone who deserves it" My school is filled with so many snobbish, overprivileged douchebags it's unbelievable Note: The cringe is not the person, but the events.
