"I should never have joined the parade that went to the Capital Building and I should never have gone inside."

Dear Judge Kollar-Kotelly, I wanted to personally write you a letter to say how sorry I am about my conduct on January 6th. I was wrong. I have thought about this every day. I should never have joined the parade that went to the Capital Building and I should never have gone inside. I have pled guilty because I know it was illegal. I am ashamed and embarrassed that I did this. Part of my shame comes from my letting group pressure suck me in. People saying things that sound real but are not true. That is also part of addiction. We learn that triggers are people, places and things. Other people try and bring you down. I fell for it and joined them. I regret it every day. I'm a father of 5 children, I'm a husband, I'm a veteran, and I'm a pipe fitter/welder. When I'm not working, I'm always doing something with my wife and children. I'm a hard worker and I take all the hours I can to support my family. My family is my world. I can't change the past. I just want you to know that I am sorry and wish I could erase that day. I have learned from this. I have become even closer to my wife. I have stayed with my mental health treatment and kept my sobriety. I want to move forward from this as a better person. October 31, 2022 Honorable Judge Howell: I am writing on behalf of Troy Faulkner. I know Mr. Faulkner to be an honest, kind, caring, and generous man. I have hired him to work in my home with complete trust and confidence. Although he and I have opposing political beliefs, I respect and admire him for the overall life he has created. He is in a long-term loving relationship, he has established a very successful small business and he has life long relationships with people who believe in him and support him. I abhor what happened on January 6, 2021 and I abhor Mr. Faulkner's behavior on that day when he got a case of "the Trump crazies", as he told me. I also know that mob behavior often leads to emotional decisions that are influenced by the out-of-control crowd and are not the rational decisions one makes on their own. I absolutely believe Mr. Faulkner was in an altered emotional state when he joined the insurrectionists in their unprecedented attack. Cooper United States District Judge NOTICE REGARDING END OF CAMPAIGN The Court previously ordered that Mr. Ryan Kelley notify the Court when his campaign for Michigan Governor was completed so that his bond conditions regarding travel could be assessed. Defense Counsel now gives notice to the Court that Mr. Ryan Kelley's campaign for Michigan Governor has ended. Mr. Kelley lost in the primaries, and requested a hand recount of the votes. Mr. Kelley has since notified Defense Counsel that his campaign for Michigan Governor ended. Defense Counsel would, however, note that Mr. Ryan Kelley is still actively involved in political issues throughout the state of Michigan, and is contemplating whether he will run for a different state or federal position.
