The Battle of Tortuga
![OP's context on the event:
Venezuela tried to shake down a cruise ship, ship said “nein”.
Venezuelan Navy ship tries to ram the ship, something like a pit maneuver. It was dumb.
Venezuelan Navy is unaware (?) that the cruise ship was built in Finland & was designed for traveling the Arctic - thus it had an ice-strengthened bulbous hull.
Venezuelan naval ship sinks. Resolute is undamaged, literally just paint scrapes. The most expensive fix was likely the new lifeboats they had to get after deploying them to assist the sinking naval ship in international waters. RCGS Resolute remains Resolute, still operates today.
Portuguese Investigation says the ramming by Venezuelan Navy might have been accidental, but still their fault.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/385/412/836.jpg)

Battle of Myeongnyang
![The Battle of Myeongnyang was a decisive battle between Joseon and Sengoku Japan, where the Japanese invasion fleet where dealt a massive blow by the numerically fewer Koreans.
Given the disparity in numbers of ships, the naval battle is regarded as one of the most tactically brilliant victories in the history of warfare, and a humiliating naval defeat for the Japanese.
Even after the victory, however, the Joseon navy was still outnumbered by remaining Japanese forces, so Admiral Yi withdrew to the Yellow Sea to resupply his fleet and have more space for a mobile defense.
After the Korean navy withdrew, the Japanese navy made an incursion into the western coast of Korea, near some islands in Yeonggwang County.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/378/707/8bc.jpg)
