What we dont want to do, ever, is insult, threaten, or otherwise harass her (or anyone else for that matter). She doesn't make these videos because she has a verifiable point about games/media causing violence/sexism against women. Look at her face in this most recent video. She knows the topic is ridiculous as the rest of us. I imagine the outtakes from this one to be hilarious. To be clear: She makes these videos to attract abuse. As the abuse wanes, the videos become more outrageous. She then turns around and uses that abuse to advocate for "online controls to protect women." Watch her performance at the UN. Ask yourself why she was invited to Google ldeas. Control is the end goal Watching her videos and debating them doesnt get her there. Hurling abuse at her does This also illustrates why her supporters are so vicious. They're baiting anyone who might express a counter-opinion, in hopes of securing evidence for the necessity of online controls to limit free expression There was a beautiful example of this behavior in the comments above- a troll, flinging constant insults, begging for someone to insult him. As soon as he got his wish, he turned around and played the victim, Youve proved my point. Keep it in mind. This isn't a discussion about women in video games Its a fight for free expression across corporate platforms that have become the virtual public square. Its a wedge to create division across online mediums where free expression by independent artists and commentators can still reach an audience of billions *Note: I'm guessing at Anita's end goal. It could be she honestly believes what she's preaching, though the recent outtakes video made it clear she doesnt take any of these topics seriously. She could be in it for the money as many have suggested for obvious reasons. She could be aligned with Google and Facebook in an effort to enforce online controls. Or, perhaps more likely, she's a pawn whose agenda conveniently aligns with the larger goals of Google, Facebook, and government.
