American McGee Its not the views she's after. It's the outrage and abuse. Lets watch her videos and debate them. Deconstructing her arguments and proving the emperor has no clothes is our right. What we dont want to do, ever, is insult, threaten, or otherwise harass her (or anyone else for that matter). She doesn't make these videos because she has a verifiable point about games/media causing violence/sexism against women. Look at her face in this most recent video. She knows the topic is ridiculous as the rest of us. I imagine the outtakes from this one to be hilarious. To be clear: She makes these videos to attract abuse. As the abuse wanes, the videos become more outrageous. She then turns around and uses that abuse to advocate for "online controls to protect women." Watch her performance at the UN. Ask yourself why she was invited to Google ldeas. Control is the end goal Watching her videos and debating them doesnt get her there. Hurling abuse at her does This also illustrates why her supporters are so vicious. They're baiting anyone who might express a counter-opinion, in hopes of securing evidence for the necessity of online controls to limit free expression There was a beautiful example of this behavior in the comments above- a troll, flinging constant insults, begging for someone to insult him. Alright! Time to write a female character for my video game! Hmm, alright. Let's see I guess I can't Make her a villain, because that means that I would be portraying women in a negative misogynous tone Make her overly attractive because I would be perpetuating the stereotype that only attractive women are heroic. This would also promote sexual objectification of women. Make her ugly because then I'd be saying that only unattractive women can get things done I'd also make unattractive women feel bad instead of empowering them - Make her the sidekick of a male character, because that would imply that she's subservient to his whims, and that she is not equal. Make her the sidekick of a female character because that would imply that women cannot work together, or that one is more equal to the other 剭 Make her the hero, because that would just be a male 'fantasy'. Having her kick ass and win the day would just be enforcing negative stereotypes. - Make her strong and willful and muscular because that would mean I'm just making a male character with breasts. which women find offensive since it rejects femininity Make her girly, feminine and sensitive, because that would mean that women cannot be strong, independent and powerful.
