20 Freaky Fred 100 Show: Courage Episode # 4b Year: 1999 Writer(s) David Steven Cohen Bil Marsilii Director/Editor s) John R. Dilworth ringe-Inducing Audio: ringe-Inducing Vis uals Lackluster Writing nnoyance Disturbing Content (Out of Place) Unnecessary Cruelty Rancid Morals Low Production Values Infortunate Impliactions Character Derailment: Other Notes: This episode is a prime example of why you should not put your main character through torture when he doesn't deserve it. Muriel's nephew, a phychotic barber named Fred, comes to the farmhouse for a visit, and Courage is understandably scared of him. He is purposely locked in the bathroom with him, thanks to Eustace. Courage is then shaved against his will by Fred while he tells him about his past. The episode goes too far in two scenes when Fred intentionally shoves pancakes into Courage's mouth to keep him from screaming for help. 1I know this is a cartoon and isn't realistic, but one of those pancakes could've gotten into Courage's windpipe and the poor dog would have easily choked to death. Muriel is downright horrid in here. She hears her pet screaming in agony, but does nothing and glides it off like it's just rainbows and butterflies. If it wasn't for the jokes of Eustace goofing off, this episode would be unwatchable. It's too mean-spirited to enjoy
