My boyfriend me (23F) than compromise and wash his hands after going pee (33M) would rather break up with strawberri_pao 2 days ago relationship_advice 85% upvoted My boyfriend and I have been bickering for about a month now about his hand hygiene. We have been together for about half a year. I notice that he doesn't use soap after using the restroom but rinses his hands with water and dries them with a towel. We have had this debate about 6 times and he is unwilling to budge and strongly defends his hygiene saying that is immaculate and that he is a clean person. I tell him that it only takes a second longer to pump the soap and it is beneficial to wash his hands regardless because you never know what germs could've been on the doorknobs/toilet handle. I asked him (in a hypothetical/curious manner) would he rather break up or just wash his hands and he chose to break up because it is "changing his personal autonomy" and that a relationship is not going to work long term if the partner is making an ultimatum over something so trivial. I told him I will stop bringing it up then becauseI feel like I am beating a dead horse here. I am aware that it takes 2 to tango and we are both being stubborn here, but I don't understand why he is so adamant about this. He is also a physician which makes it even more ironic. I care about him but I feel like it is affecting the way I see him and I am honestly a bit disgusted. Am I overreacting? What should I do?

My [29M girlfriend [28F] started using an Adult Pacifier and generally regressing becoming more childlike. Help? 2 days ago relationship_advice 96% upvoted ressesses Throwaway because this is a little more personal than I want to get on my main account, which I mainly use to post on gaming subs. My girlfriend has started acting like a small child. I'm not sure why but I know she dealt with some abuse as a kid so maybe that contributed? I don't know though because she wasn't Ilike this when we first got together. It started out with her asking me to read her stories at night.I thought okay, this is was kind of cute. She's an insomniac so l thought this might help her with that. Then she bought an "adult" pacifier on Amazon. I'm not gonna lie, this freaked me out a little. She said she bought it to lose weight. Basically to help with the oral fixation part of over-eating. I asked why she couldn't just chew gum or something but she didn't really have an answer. There have been other things too. We share a Netflix account. I looked at our history just out of curiosity. She's been watching a ton of kids shows and movies. Not even like spongebob or shows that can also appeal to teens/adults. I'm talking shows geared toward pre-schoolers. I didn't mention this because I didn't want to embarrass her. There have been other things too. Like buying slime and other stuff on amazon. She says it helps her with stress. But the ones she gets seem like something my 5 year old niece would ask for. Bright pinks and purples with rainbow beads. It's also carried over into her diet. She's become really obsessed with strawberry milk lately. And whereas we normally eat out a lot, and get stuff like sushi or Italian or Mexican....lately all she wants if we go out is stuff like chicken fingers or Mac and cheese.

We decided having a relatively small wedding which is in two days. Everything was going great. He wants me, the night before to open my legs up in a small ceremony type thing so his dad can check me while him, his brothers and uncle can watch so that they know I am still 'pure' I told him fat chance I am going to do that and he was begging to me to go through with it and how important it is for him He said he knew it was mom did and it will prove how much I love him and that I have nothing to hide anyway as I am still a virgin. I left and he was crying, it was very dramatic tbh slightly embarrassing for me but his I want to call off the whole wedding because of this and never talk to him again. But at the same time its only one thing and other then that we are genuinely perfect for each other and I dont want to spend my life with anyone else and it is very important to him and his family. Social Anxiety is BS

Lads, social anxiety is f------ b-------. It's literally just your brain being overly dramatic and telling you lies about yourself. (self.ireland) submitted 14 hours ago by no_woman_no_fry It just dawned on me this morning how much I've changed in the past five years, and I'm kind of annoyed that I spent so much time in my twenties needlessly worrying about stupid s--- because of anxiety. I'm posting this here because I know for a fact that there are a few people on this sub who are currently going through the same s--- that I used to go through. Dreading social interactions, clamming up when a stranger made small talk - worrying to myself in line at the supermarket because I'd have to chat to Mary at the checkout and there'd be strangers eyeballing me and judging me intently as I fumbled with my bags. All stupid s---- that sounds absolutely ridiculous in hindsight. Nobody actually gives a f---, to be honest. They're all too concerned about their own lives to be judging you as intently as you think they are. You could literally slap off the floor in front of me and I'd forget about it 2 minutes later. You're there, mortified with yourself and thinking that I'm laughing about it and replaying your fall in my head when really my mind has already moved onto wondering if it's too late in the day to get a breakfast roll or not. Nobody is judging you as much as you are judging yourself, so relax and learn to be OK with making mistakes. Nowadays, I chair meetings with coworkers and strangers alike and it doesn't even bother me if I mispronounce a word or f--- up in front of everyone. If that was five or six years ago, they'd have to call an ambulance. As for how I changed: I forced myself to do the things that I didn't want to do. I started off small and gradually, after each small triumph, my brain started to realise that is was worrying about stupid s----- things that it didn't need to worry about. You'll have times where you fail and that's OK. Progress rarely goes in a straight upwards line. Just be kinder to yourself lads. We all f--- up. People might even laugh and give you a bit of a jeer if you f--- up in a social setting, but that's alright - they receive the same reaction when they f--- up and most of the time it's just harmless banter. Just brush yourself off and keep going. Nobody cares as much as you think they do. Edit: Jesus Christ, there are a lot of people putting words in my mouth and pretending like I said something that I didn't. Feels like they've half-read the post or are trying to shoehorn semi-related views into the conversation. 1. When I said that social anxiety is "b-------", I didn't mean that I don't think it exists. I meant that by its very nature, it is b-------. i.e. It lies and it fills your mind with b-------. 2. I never said that being aware of this is a cure. I even pointed out exactly what I did to overcome it. I didn't overcome it by realising that "anxiety is b-------." It actually took a lot of self-effort over a period of two years. 3. I never once said that it is easy to get over anxiety. 4. This post has absolutely nothing to do with depression. 5. This post is specifically talking about social anxiety. I am aware that are other types of anxiety and that they require medical intervention. However, I repeat, this is specifically about social anxiety, not GAD or panic disorder or OCD or anything else.
