I assumed he was interested in additional income with a 2nd job, which is the case with many applicants these days (unfortunately). But Joe was smarter than the average candidate. ➡He was willing to consider taking a lower paying job to get in and prove himself. ➡But he also knew the phone interview could lead to other company opportunities. So Joe applied for a $15/hour evening position. But is moving forward for a $100K+ daytime sales executive position. Be like Joe. Keep your options open. Have that conversation. PS I'm not saying that you specifically should have to take job at $15/hour when you're qualified for $100k. What is right for one isn't right for everyone.
