We've been playing RPGs a lot of time together and I've never seen him DMing, so- obviously -I was a bit curious how this might turn out. He always was an all right player, fun to have fun with. Also, he always reminded me of an offspring a bear and a huge dog might possibly have had. You know, in a parallel universe where biology doesn't exactly work like our does. I guess that's not important, though. I was told to prepare myself a character using D&D 3.5. Well, I thought, it could have been worse, it could have been FATAL. Also, all of us know that it is the GM that makes the game, not the system and so on, so instead of complaining I rolled with it/ a character. DM told me that I can do this myself, and that he only wants to see the results; also that I should aim for a tribal feel, that playing casters is discouraged, and that he wouldn't mind a bit of minmaxing. Oh, and I had to make a human 'Well, fine. I thought and made myself a barbarian. At least those damn casters won't steal our spotlight and I can expect manly men doing manly things This, or DM is going to introduce some kind of OP Merlin DMPC. Adopted son of a local fisherman, mysterious child, blah, blah, blah, dreams about being a warrior but in his tribe your father (biological father) had to back you up if you wanted to become a weaponthane, so he trained himself. Thus the barbarian. I sent this all to DM. Soon I've received a reply "cool. Please, come at four PM Well, I get there a bit late, but there is nobody in except me and him. He smiles, nods, says that the rest will arrive a bit later, and that he wanted to get my character a proper introduction. It was weird, but we 've been total bros for a long, long time so I sat down. He brought some refreshments, offered me a beer, cracked himself one open (l think it was the first clue as to what kind of game we will be playing) and hid behind the DM screen. First, we roleplay through some childhood scenes. Your character faces bullies, your character sees his friend bullied, your character is generally disliked due to air of wrongness he has around himself, your character finds out that the aforemented fisherman is not your real dad, and so on, and so on. Soon I have my character fleshed out - a warrior that tries to hone the rage smothering within him as just another weapon. Thorgun the barbarian leaves his hamlet for hunting, and when he returns he finds the village burning and the corpses charred with dragon fire. It was much cooler when he told that, but that was basically what it boiled down to Thorgun seeks revenge. Also, he was unable to find the corpse of his love among the dead, so hoping that dragon might have kidnapped her, he follows him. Through the forest and through the desert, killing wolves and wild beasts, saving villages from dangers, visiting ancient temple in hope of finding a dragonslaying sword, more than once just barely escaping with his life. Some NPCs turn up, major character arcs ensue, but all the time I wonder 'where the hell are the other players?" As I ask GM about this, he smiles and says that one of them will turn up soon. I expect something creepy to happen but, lo and behold, a guy actually arrives. You have no idea how relieved I felt. Pleasantries ensued, GM cracked himself yet another beer and we returned to game. The new guy just sat there, also smiling (bad sign? I also got myself a huge trunk to use as a club, keeping dragonslaying sword at hand. The plan was simple - either poison him, or- if that won't work- sneak into his cavern and club/ stab him to death DRUIDS It worked, partially. Dragon ate the ship, but instead of falling dead he started vomiting. So, deciding that the cover was already blown I grabbed my tree and run out of bushes screaming like an idiot. I managed to catch him with a trunk hit while he was barfing, so I had a lot of time to follow up with a couple more blows. I've nearly managed to beat him into a pulp, but then he shook it off and faced me, however mangled and sick he was Well, I dodged vomit/breath attack and stabbed him with a magical sword. A few times. The beast fell, and my barbarian started screaming with joy Then, another dragon turned up. And another. And their mother I stare at my GM for a moment in an "are you serious? way. Has the spel grease which alows him to grease anything within reason. Has wild magic though so critical fais have hornble results half orc barbarian wrestler. Is a former janitor that still carries his mop and bucket around, probably because he is incontinent santhropomorphic bear man bard whose instruments are finger cymbals. Incredibly emotional so has to roll frequently before events to see how he feels about it. Convinced he is a carnie because of a previous session my character, dwarf rogue pirate who has lost everything except his ship, probably drave his crew to mutiny because he has a need to recite horrible poetry to everyone frequently The other three guys run into me after causing a huge amount of "accidental" chaos in a nearby vilage. I agree to take them in f they help me secure an island fortress. Tums out the fortress is controled by reigious cultists that follow the blood god The God hmself comes down to watch our final battle with the cultists. a battle that ㅲvolves the gnome setting himsef borrow the sickles barbarian andI completely bewildered, suggest we ring the bells to get the rest of the zealots here f this i s a compliment coming from him barbarian and I go up to ring them and also provide aerial assistance with our crossbows gnome finaly declares what he's going to do says that he will root the bear to the ground in the center of the room while the bear spins him around swill set himself on fire with matches and stick out the sickles so that he becomes a flaming gnome flail to hit the enemies the rest of us are speechless >DM says we need to roll like six different checks for this to work >my pirate declares this wil be worthy of a poem f we make it bear feels good about it too so he starts spinning, we ring the bells, and the gnome is now on fire Conclusion in shot in the head twice for a huge amount of damage dies is still rooted to the ground though and spinning due to forces, will stop spinning in one turn barbarian gets into his mop bucket and says hell ride it down to the ground and continue swinging the gnome around this means he' fall at least 10m/30 in a f------ mop bucket bunch of check rolls later he's able to cut the gnome loose and continue Protect us! Thar be skeletons head'n our way!" DM narrates further "In the distance a wave of skeletons roll across the horizon cutting the sea in twain. The rattle of their bones has become a deafening roar. The ship breaks out into a panic. People are g. jumping overboard, complete pandemonium. The boat gets swept up in this skeleton tide. Skeletons appear from thin air tumbling onto the boat as they do >The party is fighting off skeletons on the boat in a sea of skeletons The wave of skeletons gradually continues to overtake the boat and soon the boat itself is adrift in this sea of skeletons. Party takes turns fighting off the skeletons. Frantically making saving rolls that never hit 20 for some kind of divine intervention. At one point our sorcerer tries to reason them "PLEASE, STAHP, NO MORE! in DM intervenes "There are countless skeletons now. Even if you could cut down one million with a single swing you'd never be able to overtake their ability to reproduce. This continues for a while longer and then...they reach a critical mass. The weight of the skeletons becomes so great that their combined mass crushes the innermost portions of the planet. The generation of gravity from the skeletons' ever increasing mass sucks them into a void of density instantly killing anyone left on the planet who wasn't already dead...or a skeleton. This starts a chain reaction with fuels the creation of a new star. A star born of death. The cries of many are lost to a burning blaze in the aether. Some say you can still hear the rattling of bones echoing around this star Tongue in cheek. In one instance we discussed revisiting the bone planet through a portal that our characters might discover. A space/time wormhole kind of deal. Basically it'd be a "what if scenario to see if would stop it from turning into a star. Our "Mackleroy" said. 刈don't want to risk that s--- spreading to any other worlds Truly, Mr Bone's wild nde was the worst thing we've ever done. And that's counting Dolseth the red. CHEESE Keep in mind in one of our campaigns we accidentally unsealed this dragon (Dolseth) and it went around wrecking everything. Basically we released a Smaug tier f----- that ended up f------ up an entire continent. Keep in mind our DM hates cutting s--- short. His motto is "We're gonna finish this story one way or the He's a great storyteller but sometimes things get real crazy. The above story had a bit more leading into it but it's way too much greentext to get into Whatever world we get into, we often break more than we fix. To remedy our fuckery the DM implemented the "mirror of worlds" so that we can use if we utterly f--- up a planet beyond all hope of salvation. Weve only had to use it 3 times so far and the DM discourages us using it unless we absolutely have to because the rule of thumb is you can never revisit a planet you've f----- As with mister bone's wild ride, we refer to the "mirror or worlds" as the "CHEESE IT!" mirror an extra bit Weve theorized that the mirror isn't used without a cost. The DM has even mentioned that when we use it we'll see copies of ourselves floating by in the warp between worlds. Inferring perhaps that the mirror swaps our characters with their counterparts from alternate dimensions. It's somewhat disheartening realizing we're sending our copies to a (most likely) doomed planet. The DM has said that maybe they'll succeed where we've failed. Ithink he was trying to comfort us because nothing our counterparts could have done would have saved the planet that we filled with zombie spiders.

Kind of got forced to act as the moral center of the party, he and the orc had a very Heavy/Medic dynamic LOVE ZIS HALFELF), he stayed the paladin's hand more than once, and pudgerogue often made a lot of noise of "not bein able to have any fun while the kid's around" but seemed to go almost paternal at times. But he trusted that all of them were good people, and believed that it was a kind of destiny that brought them all together There was one memorable exchange where the paladin almost left the party at his treating a particularly bastardly enemy prisoner with kindness, claiming that he didn't deserve to be shown any mercy. Essentially, he found that the villain gained his powers through an arcane surge from an artifact, killing his family (a wife, Rhea, and son, Theodore) and entire village in the pr was or used to be a good man The ch ended what have l ote. ile :1231288407 ipg-(505 KB, 971x1179, dwarfjpg) Awesome Stories About Your Groups Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)19:33 No. 3332913 Okay, so, I was running a 4th edition campaign in a homebrew setting I made up so that all races were pretty much unified so my characters could play monster races without getting lynched every time they went into a village Anyways, the party was at about level 15 or so, with a Dwarf Fighter, Hobgoblin Warlord, Goblin Rogue, and an Eladrin Wizard. The guy who played the Dwarf was pretty experienced with RPGs and D&D in general, so he had been playing the same character for a while, while some of the group has rerolled a few times So, the group was heading off to rescue some friends who were kidnapped ( was trying to make an emotional encounter) by some crazy hedonistic Wizard. He had them locked up in his tower which was filled to the brim with crazy magical traps and stuff. Needless to say I was pretty excited to run this adventure I had made sure that they had no choice but to enter this one room with a bottomless pit, and since the Dwarf always decided to travel in front. He would fall in, the PC's would solve an easy puzzle, loot falls out of the ceiling, everybody's happy and relieved. Or the party would freak the f--- out and not know what to do, which was also acceptable So, they get to the room, and the Dwarf falls into the pit, queue "just as planned", and I begin my monologue describing what's happening. But before could get the first few words out of my mouth, the guy playing the Dwarf just says "No, I dont fall into the pit. And I try telling him that he's not gonna talk me out of it. But he won't have it, he even says "l sit down mid air, and use my Dwarven stubbornness to kill the pit. Everybody cracks up because that's exactly what his 8 INT Fighter would do.
