Amazon Reveals Title For 'Lord Of The Rings' TV Series 'The Rings Of Power' And Drops First Trailer

The release date for Amazon's long-awaited Lord of the Rings TV series (September 2nd, 2022, by the way) is fast approaching, and today Amazon renewed hype in the series by revealing its official title and a short teaser trailer.
The show will be titled The Rings Of Power. One may recognize the narration at the beginning of the teaser, which tells the summary of the creation of the rings of power, as similar to that which opens Peter Jackson's highly praised Lord Of The Rings films. This is fitting, as the series is reported to be focused on Middle Earth when the rings of power were first created.
A press statement from showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay stated that their intent was to come up with a title that could be "on the spine of a book" next to other J.R. R. Tolkein works.
"The Rings of Power unites all the major stories of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the Last Alliances of Elves and Men. Until now, audiences have only seen on-screen the story of the One Ring -- but before there was one, there were many … and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all."
The announcement was met with cautious optimism and uneasiness from fans, as Jacksons' films are beloved and one could easily see how a Lord Of The Rings series with big promises could fail to live up to expectations.

For those who want my opinion on the Rings of Power announcement. My attitude to the series so far is "Innocent until proven guilty" but also "You are on thin fuckin ice". If that makes sence, good, if not, it's my rules for me.

We'll have to wait until September to know if The Rings Of Power meets the lofty standards of Lord Of The Rings fans.
