An Anime Lord Of The Rings Film Is Coming

A Lord of the Rings anime film is in the works, Deadline announced last week, meaning the world of Middle Earth will finally enter the glorious realm of Japanese animation.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is a full-length film produced by New Line and Warner Brothers animation and directed by by Kenji Kamiyama. It will tell the story of the King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, and a legendary battle at Helm's Deep that took place 250 years before the events of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Peter Jackson, the director of that trilogy, is not a part of the project but is said to have given it his blessing.

The news greatly excited both fans of Lord of the Rings and anime (of which there are a lot).
