As if Bored Ape Yacht Club hasn't already been through enough crap, Yuga Labs is giving its community the chance to pay to run through infinite, literal crap.

That's because the company has released Dookey Dash today, a video game where you, the player, can run forever through a sewer filled with human and monkey waste. According to the official announcement released last week, all you need to play is an ape NFT and a "Sewer Pass" NFT to gain access to this opportunity.

Dookey Dash is essentially a Temple Run clone, meaning an infinite runner where the object is to see how far one can get in a procedurally generated level while avoiding obstacles.

The reason a player would do this is that, in the game, they're attempting to reclaim a key pooped out by a monkey that will open a treasure chest. Apparently, getting a high score offers players the opportunity to transform their ape NFTs into something rarer and potentially more valuable. There are also ever-contentious microtransactions.

How is social media responding to the release of Dookey Dash? Aside from intrigued BAYC holders, the endeavor appears to have elicited more eye-rolls consistent with bizarre NFT projects. Some other NFT organizations also found it childish, posting their reactions online after word of the game spread this week.

Yuga Labs said that Dookey Dash will run until February 8th, at which time the "sewer closes," and then a week later, something called "The Summoning" begins.
