In the first public comedy special since the infamous slap by Will Smith, Chris Rock responded to that and more Saturday night in a unique stand-up show live on Netflix rather than streamed afterward.

In his new special, called Selective Outrage, he brushed on the "slap heard 'round the world," the surrounding details that went into it, as well as other topics such as the recently clowned on by South Park Meghan Markle for her comments and bringing up the race card, which earned him a notable amount of early support from fans online who are tired of the royal family drama.

Rock then started to create contention when he spent an extended amount of time going over Will Smith and his relationship with his wife Jada, calling it unfair that while everyone else in the industry called out Jada for her actions in cheating on Will Smith, when he went to do it he was punished for it physically.

This struck a chord with some users online, who felt as though his bringing the situation back up a year after it happened was in "poor taste" and that he truly should have let the situation die down. Others, however, were happy to see Rock finally talk about the incident, and were glad that he was able to say what he wanted without fear of someone physically assaulting him for it.
