Just when the meme NFT craze had seemed to die down after months of being the hottest topic in memes earlier this year, another classic meme template, Friendship Ended With Mudasir just raked in 20 ETH, the equivalent of roughly $52,500 at auction.

The meme was purchased by Andrew Kang, who also owns NFTs Harambe, Dust Storm Dog, and Suh Dude.

The man behind the meme, Muhammad Asif Raza, live-tweeted through the auction, declaring every highest bidder his "best friend" as the price soared.

In 2015, Raza gave the world a template that would stand the test of time with a petty and dramatic declaration of the end of his friendship with Mudasir. It helped that every attempt to elaborate on the meme further added to the hilarity: in 2015, he told Gawker:

"I am friend to all world who would be friend to me. I left friendship with Mudasir because of his attitude and arrogant but Asif Raza Rana is NEVER proudy or attitude to for give old friend Mudasir because who is no longer attitude person and has good attitude now. So I regain frenship with he. I have made many many friends across whole world who believe in anti proudyness and real true friendship! Thank you!”

Their story has periodically sparked internet intrigue as people have wondered about the relationship status of Mudasir, Salman and Raza. Perhaps the five-figure sale of their meme constitutes the final chapter.
