Gamers around the net started to celebrate late last evening after a viral video emerged that showed a live PlayStation 5 console jailbroken for the first time ever.

When a console is jailbroken, it essentially means that the restraints put on it by the developer (Sony in this case), such as not allowing debug mode, are broken, effectively setting the console free in terms of capabilities. Most game consoles are jailbroken a couple of years after their release, causing this PS5 jailbreak to be considered fast.

What excited gamers perhaps the most about this initial video was also what was teased in the top right at the end of the video, with Silent Hills P.T being downloaded on the console, but not shown to be playable.

This parade, however, was quickly rained on as people with limited knowledge of the jailbreaking scene were let down upon the news that this would not immediately let them pirate and run free games.

Oftentimes with jailbreaks, it's not the first few that are found which allow for the console to be totally broken wide open, but the first initial breaks are monumentally important. They must crawl so that future breaks can run, so to speak.

To that end, remarks about how the PS5 is still hard to get for millions of people, as well as slight taunts to the people who jailbroke it (as that can often include legal issues), were made online as the video quickly racked up over 1.5 million views in less than 24 hours.
