After an exciting match that ended 1-1 after extra time in Wembley Stadium, Italy claimed the victory in the UEFA Euro 2020 final by beating England 3-2 after a penalty kick shootout. For both teams, this match was undoubtedly an important one. Italy was chasing its second UEFA championship win ever, while England has been trying to get another win for over half a century. Before the match, tensions were high online as there was a large number of memes made in both support and opposition of England.

During the beginning of the match, things weren't looking good for Italy, as English player Luke Shaw scored the fastest goal in European Championship history around two minutes in.
After the penalty kicks were done, however, and Italy had won, the memes and chants of "it's coming home" from the English side had been switched out for "it's coming Rome," as seen all over social media. This falls in line with typical sport wins in championships, such as famously seen in the 2014 World Cup when "7-1" became a meme topic for weeks.

#EURO2020 "IT'S COMING ROME". Popular Italian opinion is less than sympathetic to Brexit England in its hour of Shootout Agony. You wanted out of Europe, well now you are pic.twitter.com/Gwvdl6GYbF
