Two days after Amber Guygen was convicted of the murder of Botham Jean, Joshua Brown, a key witness in the trial, was found dead outside his Dallas apartment complex.

Brown, Jean's neighbor who testified against Guygen, was killed in a shooting on Friday night. The Jean family attorney, Lee Merritt, says Jean's mother "suspects foul play."

"Joshua Brown was shot in his mouth & chest," tweeted Lee Merritt. "He was exiting his car at his apt when he was ambushed & shot at close range. His mother asked my office to help find out who murdered her son. She suspects foul play. He had no known enemies. He worked for a living. We need answers."

Brown's testimony in the trial is believed to be a key factor in the conviction of Amber Guygen, the former Dallas police officer who murdered Botham Jean after entering Jean's home. She claimed to have mistaken Jean's apartment for her own and believed him to be a burglar.

At 10:30 pm Friday, police responded a shooting at the Atera Apartments, where they found his body in the parking lot. Authorities pronounced him dead at the hospital.

Others on Twitter shared Jean's mother's sentiment, posting their suspicions about the circumstances of Brown's death under the hashtag #Justice4JoshuaBrown.

Authorities have not yet named any suspects or motives in Brown's death. However, according to the Daily Dot "witnesses did report seeing a silver four-door sedan fleeing the scene just moments after gunshots were heard."
