Man Asserts The Introduction Of Tinder Is The Cause Of Incel Culture, Gets Roasted

Twitter's Main Character this morning is one Zac Stern, the founder of a "couple's app" called Get Official, who asserted in a thread that the matching imbalance on the famous online dating app Tinder is a factor in the rise of incel culture.

As one can see in the above image, the percentage of men who report "no sex in the past year" begins going up when Tinder was released (the exact date of that release is September 12th, 2012). The conclusion that Tinder directly influenced the rise of incels based solely on when it launched is shaky at best, as one could simply replace Tinder with any other 2012 event, like Obama's re-election or the Giants winning the World Series, and suggest that that caused the rise of incel culture (as some memers did).

As Stern further elaborated with more graphs, he noted that the "most attractive men" on the app are competing for the lion's share of the app's women, while men in the lower half of attractiveness struggle to gain matches. At one point, he cites the economic principle The Gini Coefficient to suggest that if Tinder were a country, it'd have one of the highest income inequalities in the world.

Stern never really connects his initial premise of Tinder causing incels to the numerous graphs he posted, though he does illustrate that women have an easier time on the app than men. The thread began going viral on Twitter as many people found its initial premise and execution fairly farfetched.

Coincidentally, Know Your Meme was founded on December 1st, 2008, and the percentage of men reporting no sex in the past year has gone up ever since. Sorry, fellas.
