Playboy and mushroom company Red Light Holland have cut ties with Mia Khalifa after the Lebanese-born adult actress posted several tweets over the weekend appearing to cheer on Hamas in the developing Hamas-Israel conflict.

In a statement emailed to subscribers of Playboy's Centerfold platform – a subscription service connecting subscribers with Playboy models – the long-running men's magazine stated the platform has "zero tolerance for hate speech."

Khalifa has been tweeting and reposting several pro-Palestine messages since Saturday, expressing sentiments including "If you can look at the situation in Palestine and not be on the side of Palestinians, then you are on the wrong side of apartheid and history will show that in time" and more glib takes like, "I can’t believe the Zionist apartheid regime is being brought down by guerrilla fighters in fake Gucci shirts – the biopics of these moments better reflect that."

Deleted tweets that appear to have soured her relationships with her brand partners include describing a picture of Hamas fighters as a "renaissance painting" and saying of Hamas, "Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine to flip their phones and film horizontal."

Khalifa has not commented on her cut ties with Playboy but did have a public back and forth with Todd Shapiro, a broadcaster who founded the psychedelic mushroom company Red Light Holland, which had partnered with Khalifa.

In another tweet, she said, "I stand with all people fighting oppression, now and always, do your research before begging for my investment in your little project, I’m from LEBANON, are you insane for expecting me to be on the side of colonialism you --ing weirdo?"
