Grant Imahara, host of Mythbusters and Netflix's White Rabbit Project passed away suddenly yesterday from a brain aneurysm. He was 49.

"We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family," said the Discovery channel in a statement.

Imahara worked on Mythbusters starting in its third season. He and co-hosts Kari Byron and Tory Belleci left the show after the 2014 season and reunited for Netflix's White Rabbit Project in 2016.

The news stunned Imahara's former friends and co-workers. Mythbusters host Adam Savage tweeted, "Grant was a truly brilliant engineer, artist and performer, but also just such a generous, easygoing, and gentle PERSON."

Byron tweeted a picture of herself, Imahara, and Belleci, writing, "Sometimes I wish I had a time machine." Belleci posted a picture of himself with Imahara as well, writing, "My heart is broken. Goodbye buddy."

In addition to his work on Mythbusters_, Imahara also competed in "_Battlebots":/memes/subcultures/battlebots with "Deadblow." Many of his engineering works appeared in popular culture. He is partially responsible for the rhythmic oscillation of the modern Energizer bunny. He constructed "Geoff Peterson," a robot sidekick on The Late Show With Craig Ferguson.
