Suspicions that Nintendo is purposefully pandering to the predilections of its fanbase intensified yesterday after the company released a cute animation to advertise its upcoming title, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
In the short, Bowser tries to woo Princess Peach with a flower, but Peach gets the power-up that turns her into the much-memed Elephant Peach. This apparently makes her even more attractive to Bowser, who pulls out a bouquet in the hopes of winning the elephantine princess' heart.

Some social media users recognized themselves in Bowser, for like the King of the Koopas, they too were more attracted to Princess Peach once she turned into an elephant.
Since the unexpected and bewilderingly popular explosion of the Bowsette meme, which was inspired by the Super Crown power up in New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, many saw Elephant Peach as Nintendo's attempt at recreating the Bowsette magic (which also came on the heels of "Elephant Mario").
While Elephant Peach hasn't completely taken over the internet like Bowsette, the character has definitely cemented a particular kind of fandom, and Nintendo seems more than happy to offer those dedicated fans a few breadcrumbs in anticipation of its new title.
