Video Of Tortoise Actually Beating Rabbit In Race Blows Peoples' Minds Yet Again
A video of a tortoise legitimately beating a rabbit in a race sprang into Twitter consciousness this week after Twitter user @Sirferrel1 posted the clip.

Incredibly, the race plays out much like Aesop's fable. The rabbit jumps out to an early lead in the short race before stopping. The tortoise, on the other hand, slowly and steadily keeps marching forward until it crosses the finish line first, much to the crowd's delight.
The video spread around Twitter as people expressed their surprise at the accuracy of Aesop's fable.
Aesop’s Fables really weren’t lying 😤😤 https://t.co/c7GjUXItKc

Idk why people are surprised about the race result there’s literally a story about how this turns out. https://t.co/45N3aUBmix

However, unbeknownst to Twitter users, this is not the first, nor second time the clip has gone viral. The clip, from an Indonesian race that was originally shared to YouTube by Nick Sina in October of 2016, attracted coverage from Metro. In 2017, the clip hit The Daily Dot and Thrillist. Other media publications have picked the video up in the years since.
However amusing the video was to Twitter users, at least one user, @DragonflyJonez, had to point out that the race wasn't exactly a recreation of the fable: the bunny in the video was clearly no hare.
Going to have to take a stand for the hare community here. They were misrepresented. That was not a hare. Have you ever seen a hare? Those muthafuckas are rabbits on steroids. BALCO bunnies. They got pecs and shit. A hare could literally hop to that finish line in one leap. https://t.co/8ejzqhEimA
