Update 09/29/2021: YouTube has restored the video, stating that removing it was "a mistake on their end."

Remember I Can't Believe You've Done This? The original upload of one of the earliest YouTube memes and viral videos is no more as the company decided to take it down 14 years later due to "violent content."

Last night, Paul Weedon, the guy in the original video, tweeted a message from YouTube in which the company notified him that they took the classic down.

We wanted to let you know our team reviewed your content, and we think it violates our violent or graphic content policy.

In the video, Weedon, pretending to start a vlog, suddenly gets punched in the face, reacting by stating in a bitter, betrayed voice, "Ah fuck, I can't believe you've done this!" The original upload was made by PWee28 (Paul Weedon) on July 13th, 2007, and accumulated nearly 12 million views over the past 14 years, with many, many reuploads of the original gaining millions more (enjoy one of them below). Surprisingly, the reuploads were ignored by YouTube, with only the original video getting nuked.

In an interview with The Verge, Weedon said that he appealed to YouTube over the removal, stating that the video not only had been online for 15 years, but that it was also a part of internet culture. YouTube, however, appeared to disagree.

The attempts to talk it over with YouTube support brought up disappointing results: the video is staying down, but the reuploads are fine since nobody complains about them.

YouTube's decision to delete a part of the internet's history did not meet any applause from social media users, to say the least.

On June 21st, 2021, Paul Weedon uploaded a video in which he announced that he was making a film about the meme. At least now we know how it will end.
