Yeah I've had that reaction a few times. Like I think I once saw a person say Shantae and the Pirate's Curse "looks like another dumb NES throwback" and my response was "the NES WISHES it could do sprite art this good, this is more like late-life very high end SNES sprites, or Sega Saturn/PS1 32-bit sprites."
