I just found out that this is a meme, but I'm not surprised that this is a meme.

In a sense… Stealing a car is grand theft auto. Stealing a car with a baby in it is kidnapping. Grand theft auto has a maximum sentence of 3 years (and a minimum of 16 months); kidnapping could add many, many more years onto that (up to 20 for first-degree, and 5 or so for second-degree; I don't know the difference).

What I'm saying is, this was not exactly a charitable act, though the parents were still hideously irresponsible.
