And as she had her at a pretty young age, it probably gave her time to grow up and mature into who she is now.

Yeah, given how these things usually work out, she probably had to raise Maggie on her own. Still, she seems to have done a pretty good job with herself and her daughter, and hopefully the bassist remembers to pay his fucking child support.
