What even is the concept of race anymore?

Like, if someone having kids with someone of a different race "gets rid" of the first person's race then how come it doesn't also get rid of the other parent's race? By that logic, interracial marriage would get rid of Blacks, Arabs, Hispanics and Asians too, but it doesn't for some reason? Wouldn't the kids just be members of both or neither, not one or the other?

The more I here about race, the more I'm convinced that it's very possibly the dumbest thing since white bread.
