I know some people will just look at a wall of text and just pass over it, so to condense it all down, it gives us an explanation of a truly unconventional art piece done in memorial of an artist's deceased lover that was done in a way to get around a ban on homosexual artists being portrayed in galleries, as well as providing a compelling metaphor on how his partner brought sweetness to his life and the slow death he suffered brought on by AIDs.

This is what is pictured above.

The second one is about an asshat who slapped a banana on the wall and got some sucker to pay $120'000 for it.

The point it makes is that "Modern Art" is often more about the story surrounding the piece rather than the piece itself; and that this unconventional style is being exploited and dragged through the dirt by tricksters and attention seekers.
