Depends on who you ask. I know that the art style is a big negative for a lot of people, but there's plenty of other arguments i've seen.

Another complaint is that the last two remakes of previous games (Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire and the Lets Go games) were lacking in quality and content when compared to the two remakes that came before (Fire Red/ Leaf Green and Heart Gold/Soul Silver). The latter two remakes are highly praised by the community for not just remaking the originals, but expanding on them with lots of post game content and quality of life changes, while the former were known for straight up removing features (battle frontier, player customization in OR/AS. Items, breeding, abilities in Lets Go).

Of course we have all the discourse brought in by Sword/Shield: with the whole Dexit mess, paid DLC in a game that some felt was short/unfinished and the general community belief that the games continue to drop in overall quality.

Finally, we have those whom believe that the game is going to be to much of a 1-1 remake, with little/no changes or updates to make it worth buying over getting a 2nd hand copy/emulating the originals, this is something I'd be personally worried about. I know they updated the underground since it was pretty bland in the originals, but if there's no more significant content added to make the game worth while compared to the originals, then why bother remaking it at all?
