The Switch has more power than people give it credit for. You could technically play Gears of War 2, Red Dead Redemption 1, hell you can actually play Crysis 1 there right now. It's a console better fit for stylized looking games rather than realistic looking games however.

The Switch's biggest bottleneck is memory bandwidth, more so than CPU and GPU power.

It works in LPDDR4 (Low Power, what phones use) and while it is EXTREMELY power efficient (also low heat development), it also only has ~20% of the speed of the GDDR equivalent. It has around 25.6 GByte/s bandwidth.

It's why the Switch is so bad with transparency effects as those require quite a bit of memory bandwidth.

Phones have the same problem, mind you, which is even why with all their power, the games are still highly optimized around such things.

LPDDR5 came out just last year and has double the bandwidth. Around 51 GByte/s… for comparison GDDR5 has a bandwidth of around 224 GByte/s. And that is what the new consoles and new PCs have.
