She is then ound to be too offensive because the fans didn't like the voice she was given and people think the word Derp is an offensive word She is a clumsy character and makes mistakes. That's her character traits. She hasn't done anything offensively retarded nor is her voice offensively retarded. Some of you "fans" are over blowing the situation out of proportion by calling it a "Full On Retard", Tropic Thunder s--- The fans where the ones that helped created most of the character traits for Derpy in the first place. Then when the staff makes her a connection to the fans with this character for you to enjoy, some of you get offended? Its a cartoon that plays it on the safe side. Don't take it so seriously

Family Guy is a show for adult men so they get a lot more leeway in being offensive plus it's on FOX and they're use to criticism and controversy.

MLP is a show for little girls (just play along) so they have zero leeway in even being remotely offensive.

Plus the Hub is a brand new network that's trying to carve a niche in the brutally competitive cable business so they are much more sensitive to criticism.
