The horse's hoof IS a toe β it is a single, giant toe. Eohippus, the earliest horse species, had five toes like we do. Succeeding steps of equine evolution saw all the toes vanish except one. Thus, every horse has four toes on their entire body, so using a toe spacer for all four of Twi's legs is a bit of a Biological Science in-joke.
