"Pilots" and "first episodes" are neither not mutually exclusive nor mutually inclusive terms.
Sometimes you get something like (example completely off the top of my head) Invader Zim's janky pilot that gets reworked into a proper first episode. Sometimes it's just straight up the first actual episode of the show.
Goose's implication here is that, in this case, the pilot is also a proper episode 1.
