Origin
On August 19, Artist Cee-lo Green posted a video on his page. It was a cleverly and subtly named music video named "F**k you."
Comprised of little more than the main song and a colorful, text video, the song caught on quickly. It racked up 2.5 million views in under a week, spreading on forums and social networking sites. The catchy music along with the old 1950's feel proved popular as well as the shock value of the expletives. The song is to be included with Cee-lo's Solo Album The Lady Killer.
Ceelo sings about a "golddigger" and how essentially, he just wants to say:
"F**k you."
More Tributes/Mash Ups:
It only took three days before 50 Cent made a freestyle tribute rap
The song has recently caught on with radio managers, prompting a radio edit from Ceelo. While arguably inferior, the new song, dubbed "Forget You," replaces the expletives with audio warps as wells as Ceelo re-recording his track.
