May 25, 2009, the Flicker photographer, W9NED, took an extremely close up shot of a duck.
The duck was submitted to Digg by the poweruser Gamebittk, on December 17th (The day before the user created a meme entry here.)
As the Digg community dugg the picture to the Top 10 list, one digger began to think: Hm… How can I make this picture funny? That digger was Pstroll.
He was the first to take advantage of the duck by uploading this NSFW pic to imgur and posting it in the comments section, and thus, giving birth to a new meme.
